Privacy policy

PlayNewt needs no account and no personal details, and loads a game from itch.io only when you press Play.

Before you press Play

Our pages, images, fonts and scripts are served from our own domain. We do not show ads and we do not ask for an account or any personal details.

Visit statistics

We measure visits with Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (such as _ga) to count visits, pages read and games started; you can block it with your browser settings or Google's opt-out add-on. Cloudflare Web Analytics uses no cookies. We use these numbers only to decide which games to cover next.

After you press Play

The game loads inside the page through itch.io's official embed, from itch.io and, for some games, from the developer's own website. Those services may set their own cookies and collect data under their own privacy policies, including itch.io's privacy policy. Games that run on the developer's own site are marked on their page.

Play counts

When you press Play, we add one to that game's play count for the day. The count stores only the game and the date, nothing about you, and it feeds our weekly ranking.

Server logs

Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes standard request data such as IP address and browser type to deliver and protect the site.
