How games get here

We read the new-release feeds of indie game platforms such as itch.io every day, keep the ones that run in a browser and allow embedding, then load each one in our own browser test and capture what it shows before we write the page.

  • 1,372 new browser games went live on itch.io on Oct 25, 2026
  • 55 of 58 new releases we sampled support itch.io's official embed
  • 74 games loaded, checked and written up so far

Source: our count of itch.io's public newest HTML5 games feed, Oct 26, 2026 (UTC dates). Embed sample: 60 random games from the same feed.

Collections

Lists of new games that share a style of play.

What you get on every game page

Each new game gets its own page with the game itself embedded through itch.io's official embed, so it runs from the developer's upload and every play counts on their itch.io page. Under the game you will find a short answer to what the game is, the controls laid out as a table, how a round or a run works, what the game contains, screenshots we captured in our own browser, and the questions new players ask most.

How we pick new browser games

  • Just released. We read the public feeds of newly published browser games on indie platforms such as itch.io every day. On a typical day that is well over a thousand titles.
  • Free and playable here. The game must be free, run in a browser tab and allow the platform's official embed. Download-only and paid games are left out.
  • Enough to go on. The developer has to describe the game properly: what it is, how it plays and ideally its controls. Pages with one line of text are skipped.
  • Not a copy of someone else's franchise. Fan games of big brands and adult games are not listed.

How we check them

Every game is opened in our own browser before it gets a page: we wait for it to load, capture the first screen, click once and capture again. Games that show an error, a blank screen or a missing file are dropped. Before each update we check every listed game again, and a game the developer removes or stops embedding leaves every list. Some games we also play through ourselves; their pages carry a "Played" stamp with the date and add what happened in our runs.

What you will not find here

No downloads, no sign-ups to play, no paid games behind a free label, and no pages written for games we could not load. Each stamp shows the real date of our test.
