How a fight works
- Ship deck: trade broadsides with guns, sails and seamanship. Hulls and broadsides run in the hundreds.
- Boarding deck: once the enemy is at half hull (sooner with Grappling Hooks or Bonny & Read), board her with blades, pistols, your captain and crew.
- Setup cards like Grapeshot, Langrage and Sharpshooters soften a prize before you board.
- Bosses end in a captain's duel. There is no running from a fight, so choose your route with care.
Captains
Blackbeard (terror and boarding), Charles Vane (no-quarter gunnery), Black Sam Bellamy (crew and plunder), and Anne Bonny & Mary Read (blades and duels). Calico Jack Rackham unlocks later.
The voyage
- Three acts: the Flying Gang, the Treasure Coast, and the Hunter, Benjamin Hornigold.
- Ports, careening coves, smugglers' coves and wrecks along the way; recruit a quartermaster, gunner, bosun, navigator, surgeon and boarding master.
- Rations, powder and repair kits run out, and nothing heals by itself.
- The first sinking puts you in a longboat with a third of your silver; a second ends the voyage.
- After each act boss, sail home with 75% of your plunder or push on: a full win banks 155%.
- Banked silver builds up Nassau between voyages, and you can sign the Hall of Captains leaderboard.
